Neck and Shoulder Pain in Dogs, Invigorate the Collaterals, Xiao Huo Luo Dan Wan

Invigorate the Collaterals or Xiao Huo Luo Dan Wan
Invigorate the Collaterals is a great TCM formula for dogs in severe, persistent pain. This type of pain occurs with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, disc disease, and cervical spondylomyelopathy. How do we know these diseases cause severe pain? From asking humans who suffer from similar disease.

Dogs, cats, birds, horses and all the animal kingdom, are exactly the opposite of humans in how they deal with pain. All creatures experience pain, but humans tell each other about it—even the simplest little paper cut—while dogs, cats, and other creatures hide their pain. We often cannot identify pain in our pets until it is so extreme that they can no longer hide it. Finally, we see the dog limp, the cat no longer able to jump to the counter, or the bird unable to hang onto the perch. Invigorate the Collaterals can help these pets. It moves, tonifies, and transforms phlegm (stagnant material).

Invigorate the Collaterals is an ideal formula for dogs with disc disease, cervical spondylomyelopathy, degenerative myelopathy especially if they also have obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is ideal for pets that are intolerant of cold.

 Tongue and Pulse
The tongue of pets that will benefit from Invigorate the Collaterals is pale or lavender and may have a white coat. The pulse of pets that will benefit from Invigorate the Collaterals may be weak, slow or wiry.

 Contraindications
Pets are given Invigorate the Collaterals for a short time, a matter of weeks, then switched to TCM herbal formulas that are safely given for a long time, such as Supple Spine or Benefit Hips and Knees. Pregnant pets are not given Invigorate the Collaterals, nor is it used when pets are hot, dry or have blood and yin deficiency.

Danger in Herbs from China
For over a thousand years, the Chinese have made wonderful herbal formulas, but in the last 50 years, they have succumbed to poor farming practices and I no longer trust products made in China. I prescribe Invigorate the Collaterals for my clients from companies that manufacture TCM formulas in Canada or the US.
