Caring for Arthritic Dogs, Using Supple Spine or Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang for Arthritis in Dogs

TCM Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbs for Arthritis & Pain, Supple Spine or Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang
The TCM herbal formula Supple Spine (Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang) is also called Angelica and Loranthus Decoction. Supple Spine is especially helpful for senior dpgs with chronic lameness or disc disease that is worse with exertion or with cold. These arthritic dogs are more painful in a cold damp of winter than they are in the warm, dry summer. They become progressively weaker as they walk and dread going out in the cold. Supple Spine is ideal for the arthritic dog that likes to snuggle under the covers.

In addition to helping geriatric dogs with arthritis, Supple Spines helps with dry eye, with deafness, with increased drinking and urination (PUPD), and with numbness and tingling. It is often helpful for degenerative myelopathy in the older German Shepherd. Supple Spine is the ideal TCM formula for a geriatric dog vulnerable to wind, cold, and damp.

When not to use Supple Spine
Supple Spine is not helpful for dogs that have joint infections, such as Lyme’s disease. It is not helpful for dogs with osteomyelitis or bone injection. These are “excess” or heat diseases, and Supple Spine is ideal for deficiency diseases.

Safe source for Supple Spine or Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang Herbs
Although the ancient Chinese had wisdom to formulate excellent medicines, the modern Chinese do not provide these medicines in a guaranteed safe form. I do not recommend using any TCM formula that has not been through good manufacturing process (GMP) in the US or Canada. Please ask me for herbs that are safe for your pet.
