An old textile mill in Mercy, South Carolina town has been abandoned for years. Jillian Hart, the feline-loving heroine of my Cats in Trouble Mysteries is asked to help relocate a feral cat colony in the huge abandoned building. But old structures like these often hold many secrets.
In The Cat, The Mill and The Murder, one of those secrets is a special kitty named Boots, friend to a homeless woman who decided to call the mill her own. After all, this poor person had worked in the textile industry for years. It was a familiar place, though not all familiarity is comforting. It can breed contempt. It can lead to heartbreak. It can even hide a killer.
Boots—black with white feet as you would expect a "Boots" to be—will follow Jillian through the twists and turns of this special addition to the series. She is an exceptional kitty in many ways--wise and smart and determined to help Jillian solve the mysteries unearthed at the mill. Exceptional in other ways as well, but you have to read the book. I won't say more.
See, I hate spoilers as much as the next reader. Just know that Boots will be with Jillian from beginning to end, assisting her in invaluable ways. There will be other helpers, too. Some kind and caring, some hiding dark secrets of their own. The regular cast of characters will be along for the ride, but this is a special book where Jillian follows her instincts and learns to trust herself more than ever before. Turns out, she's rather brave and wise herself.
