A "Mini-Me" of Tara

As devastating as losing Tara was for me, it's been even more difficult for my mother. She's elderly and handicapped, and just thought the world of my Tara. (It was even her idea to name her Tara because of Gone with the Wind, the movie she's seen over 50 times!)

When my friend Caren at Dakota's Den blogged about a Mini-Me (a crocheted replica of a cat or dog) she had made of Dakota by Dip-Dip and the Bridge, I immediately thought what a one of a kind Christmas gift it would be for my Mom to have one made of Tara.

Before Thanksgiving I emailed Lynne (DD&B's Mom) and attached some photos of Tara. She told me up front that tortoiseshell cats are the hardest for her to make, and she couldn't get Tara's every marking precisely, but she assured me it would look like her. Just days later I received pictures of the finished product from all angles (with no pressure to buy it if I wasn't satisfied)...and the results brought tears to my eyes.

It looks just like her, even down to her left front leg that was all black except for her white paw, which I always referred to as her "open-toed shoe".

Truffles wanted to have her picture taken with Mini-Me Tara:

If you're interested in having a Mini-Me made of your special pet, email Lynne at chi-chigirls86@hotmail.com. Ordering information can also be found here. Her prices are extremely reasonable, and I was shocked by how quickly I was holding my Mini-Me in my hands given that Lynne is in England!

And in case you were wondering, yes, this is still going to be a Christmas gift for my Mom, but we'll be sharing custody! Our Mini-Me of Tara is something we will treasure forever.
